What's On the Line in Virginia this November

L-R: Abigail Spanberger, Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Sears

In case you hadn't heard, we have an election coming up this November.

If you're like me and keep up with news and politics, it will likely come as a shock to you that there are tons of people that have no idea Virginia has statewide elections this year (so spread the word!). However, come Nov. 4, we will elect a Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General, and all 100 seats in the House of Delegates (the lower body of the Virginia legislature, similar to the U.S. House of Representatives).

In this brief letter, I would like to make a case for why your vote is indispensably critical this year. Firstly, the Gubernatorial race. Our current Lieutenant Governor, Winsome Earle-Sears, is running against former Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger. Spanberger, amongst other things in this campaign cycle (such as the now-infamous instance a couple weeks ago where a Spanberger supporter held up a sign informing Winsome Sears that she couldn't use the same water fountain as her), has received a $50,000 donation from Pin Ni, a Chinese business tycoon who is tied to the Chinese Communist Party.

The potential practical effects of this aren't hard to guess. As bills come up in the state legislature which would affect the CCP, what will happen? Let's say the long-awaited bill to ban the Chinese Communist Party from buying farmland in Virginia passes the House and Senate. Do you think Spanberger is going to sign that bill or veto it? The answer isn't hard to guess.

For the sake of length, I won't delve further into Spanberger's other issues such as her support for repealing right-to-work (which would be a disaster!) or her pledge to overturn Governor Youngkin's directive requiring Virginia law enforcement to help federal agents deport illegal alien criminals. Vote to keep sanity in our dear state this year. Vote Winsome Sears for Governor!
